The program is designed with a combination of formal education through Hennepin Technical College and on-the-job training based on industry and academic-approved curriculum. SkyWater’s equipment maintenance technicians are critical to our success! They help us avoid disrupted production schedules, minimize safety risks, and protect our capital equipment. No previous semiconductor industry experience is required. SkyWater is seeking individuals with a strong mechanical aptitude, willingness to learn and a sense of team. Join SkyWater’s Apprenticeship Program

Earn college credit toward a secondary education degree with the opportunity to continue course work to pursue an associate, bachelor’s, or graduate degree through SkyWater’s educational tuition reimbursement program.

  • Get all program tuition & fees paid directly to Hennepin Technical College by SkyWater
  • Increase your technical skills on the job, while getting paid
  • Work with SkyWater mentors and participate in hands-on learning

Apprentices will earn the following college credits & credentials in 16-24 months:

  • Industrial Electricity 1 Certification
  • SEMI Certified Technician 1
  • Certified Manufacturing Associate
  • Industrial Manufacturing Journey Worker certificate
  • 12-16 college credits toward a secondary education degree
  • In-classroom training at Hennepin Technical College is paid directly by SkyWater.

Via on-the-job paid training, apprentices will learn:

  • MN-DOL safety training
  • Operation of production equipment
  • Interpretation of technical information
  • Routine equipment maintenance
  • Inventory and material processes
  • Continuous improvement

Candidates hired into the Apprenticeship Program will work full-time on a compressed week of 12-hour shifts and attend classes at Hennepin Technical College one – two days per week, in addition to their work schedule.

As a child, I was always very curious and took things apart to figure out how they work. Later, I joined the Navy as an electronics technician which prepared me for my role at SkyWater — where new problems requiring new thinking happen every day.
